Dance Summer Course

Albarella Dance Summer Course is an international dance event presented in its first edition for students, professional dancers and teachers. Developed as a dance study-holiday summer camp, it aims through classes, workshops and master classes with international guest teachers to refine and enrich the technical and artistic aspects of the participants.

The study program will take place from the 8th to the 13th of July 2019.
There will be different levels of dance classes depending on each participant's personal experience and it will provide different styles: ballet, neoclassical, contemporary and modern.

Beyondance wants to sustain the Arts of Dance and Ballet, as a real and deep way in order to pass on strong emotions.

We are BEYONDANCE. Beyond because we want to go beyond. Beyond superficiality, beyond dance.

Nowadays in the ballet world versatility is required more than ever: from purely classical ballet to refined contemporary, dancers have to absorb and perform choreographies with a more natural body language. For this reason it is very important to work and study every day with perseverance, especially during  the school years.

Born in Rome , Giuliano Peparini is one of the most prolific and eclectic director and choreographer on the international scene.

Left Italy at 16 to train at the School of American Ballet.

Afterwards, he moved back to Europe and joined the National Ballet of Marseille, under the direction of Roland Petit, where he got promoted Etoile in 1997.

In 1998 Giuliano Peparini presented his first choreography “Horses” at the Opèra of Marseille.

After his dancing career he worked as assistant and Maître for Roland Petit and staged his masterpieces in the best companies around the world: Paris Opèra, Bolshoi Ballet, Tokyo National Ballet, La Scala Theatre and many others.

In 2001 he choreographed at the Mariinsky Theatre, S. Petersburg  “Loulou dream of an anti star”.

Alongside the dancing career , he attended famous Drama schools in Paris like: “Claude Mathieu”, “Jacques Lecoq” and the film school “La Femis”.

He cooperated with Cirque du Soleil for theatre and movement workshops and in 2004 he met Franco Dragone, with whom he created  “Le Rêve”, one of the biggest and most awarded show in Las Vegas, on stage for over 10 years.

In 2007 Giuliano created a show for 150 dancers for the Macau Crown Hotel in China and worked for the film industry  directors Niki Caro and Eric Emmanuel Schmitt (Grand Prix du Theatre de l’Academie Française).

In 2008 he directed and choreographed Catherine Lara’s show “Au de-là des murs” at the Palais des Sports in Paris.

In 2010 was Associate Director and Choreographer of the greatest aquatic show of the world “The House of Dancing Water” (Franco Dragone Entertainment).

In 2012, Dove Attia and Albert Cohen nominated Giuliano director and choreographer of their new musical in Paris “1789, Les Amants de la Bastille” , awarded “Le Globe de Crystal” as the Best Musical of the year in France.

In 2013, after over 20 years away, he moved back to Italy and worked as Artistic Director and Choreographer of the television talent-show “Amici”,where he collaborated until 2017.

That same year directed  “ROMEO e JULIET – love and change the world”, which premiered in the Arena di Verona and toured around Italy for two years.

In 2015 he was one of the judges of the French television program “La France a un incroyable talent” and created “La légende du Roi Arthur”, which toured around France for one year.

At the end of 2015 choreographed “The Nutcracker” for the company of Rome Opera Theatre, which was staged in 2016 and 2017.

In 2018 created in France “Bô” and staged “ROMEO e JULIET – love and change the world” for another italian tour.

In July choreographed “Romeo and Juliet” for the company of the Rome Opera Theatre and later directed and choreographed for Claudio Baglioni his national tour “Al Centro”.

Stéphane Phavorin received his dance training at the Paris Opera Ballet School with the most great teachers, and simultaneously studied classical piano at the Nice Conservatory and in Rueil-Malmaison.

During his 25-year career with the Paris Opéra Ballet, rising through the ranks to premier danseur, he danced the work of many great contemporary choreographers including Pina Bausch, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Twyla Tharp, Jiri Kilian, and Wayne McGregor. His classical repertoire included leading characters from the ballets of Rudolf Nureyev; “Rothbart” in Swan Lake, the “Prince” in Casse Noisette, “Tybalt” in Romeo and Juliet, as well as other classical roles such as “James” in the romantic ballet La Sylphide by Pierre Lacotte.

Mr. Phavorin has received Paris Opéra’s AROP prize, as well as silver medals at International Dance Competitions in both Paris and St. Petersburg.

With both a Diplôme d’État (2002) and a Certificat d’Aptitude de professor de danse in pedagogy (2013) from the French State.

Mr. Phavorin is often invited to work for some of the world’s major theaters including the Paris Opéra Ballet, London’s Royal Ballet, and the Colón Theatre Ballet in Buenos Aires, HET National Ballet, Scala de Milan.

For four years he served as Ballet Master and Company Teacher for Madrid’s Compañía Nacional de Danza, followed by one year with the Rome Opera.

Additionally, Mr. Phavorin has created three choreographic works:, “3941” to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of Animals, and “Piazzo” to the music of Astor Piazzolla with Vasko Vasilev, (first violin of the orchestra of Covent Garden) and most recently for Rome Opera’s 2016 production of La Traviata, staged by Sofia Coppola with costumes by Valentino.

Luiza Lopes was born in São Paulo and started dancing at the age of eight. She began her studies at the Municipal School of Ballet, and later attended the Dance Center Nice Leite-Ilara Lopes.

After winning several competitions in Brazil, when Luiza was 15 years old she won a scholarship to study at the Royal Ballet School in London.  While in London, she studied at the Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet School. At only 17, she was awarded a professional contract to work in the newly created São Paulo Dance Company, so she returned to Brazil.

Luiza soon began to stand out, with dance critics drawing attention to the expressiveness of her lines and her musicality, and she was soon dancing leading roles.  She started to add Balanchine roles to her repertoire at age 17 when she debuted as “The Waltz Girl” in Serenade, followed by Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux and the principal role of Theme and Variations.

She also danced central roles in ballets of many established choreographers of the 21st century, including Pas de Deux of Gnawa by Nacho Duato, Petite Mort by Jiri Kylian, Legend Pas de Deux by John Cranko, Le Spectre de la Rose by Mario Galizzi after Michel Fokine, and In the Middle Somewhat Elevated and Workwithinwork by William Forsythe.

With the São Paulo Dance Company she was also honored to have three works specially created for her. She was able to show her technical accuracy combined with a lyrical and sensual flow in Bachania Pas de Deux by Rodrigo Pederneiras.  Her versatile dramatic ability became evident when, in the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet created by Giovanni di Palma, she conveyed all the passion of discovering teenaged lust and loss, and in Edouard Lock’s The Seasons, she showed the character’s darker side in angular, dry, nervous and imposing movements.

She also played the Sylph in La Sylphide, in Mario Galizzi’s version of the Bournonville classic, a role that earned her an invitation to attend the “Gala of Stars 2014”, directed by Marcia Haydee. She performed the Grand Pas de Deux from The Nutcracker, in the version of Tatiana Leskova, and Don Quixote Grand Pas de Deux in version of Manoel Francisco.

In one of her last shows with the São Paulo Dance Company, she performed the Grand Black Swan Pas de Deux in the version of Mario Galizzi, dancing with the principal dancer of the Royal Ballet, a fellow Brazilian, Thiago Soares. This was a happy partnership, which allowed new possibilities for her to demonstrate her expressive power. In the beginning of 2015 she received an invitation to join the Royal Swedish Ballet, as a First Soloist, and she made her debut on opening night, as the Queen of the Dryads in Rudolf Nureyev’s version of Don Quixote. In September 2015 she danced her first principal role with the company, in Pontus Lidberg’s production of Raymonda, then right after in December of 2015 she did her second principal role with the company as the “Hussan” in the Swedish version of the Nutcracker. In May of 2016 she was chosen by the renowned English choreographer Christopher Wheeldon to play Alice from his piece “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” made for the Royal Ballet of London and restaged out of London for the first time at the Royal Swedish Ballet.  Still in 2016, she was chosen for the role of Annina in “Ponte Molle” by Frank Andersen and Dina Björn after August Bournonville. In 2017 she performed the role of Odette/Odile in Pär Isberg’s version of Swan Lake and also performed in works by Alexander Ekman and Mats Ek. She worked in a very special piece made by David Dawson called The Grey Area, which has its premiere in April 2019. Also danced Lilac Fairy in Marcia Haydée’s Sleeping Beauty and recently was invited to perform along side her former company “The Swan Lake” with Mario Galizzi’s version, while also she launched a line of ballet clothing for the renowned Brazilian Brand  Balletto, with her own signature.

Graduated in 1975 from the National Academy of Choreography in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). After school, she immediately joined the Rhapsody Theatre in Bucarest, where she danced all the classical repertoire, and got promoted to Prima Ballerina in 1977.

After one year she moved to Italy and beside the dancing career, she started teaching ballet, historic dances and character dances.

Since 1988 she is Ballet and Character Professor at the prestigious La Scala Ballet Academy, where she stages as well all the ballets for the school performances.

Currently, beside her position at the Academy of “La Scala”, she teaches monthly around Italy training courses for future coaches.

Shelby Williams was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (United States). She began her ballet training with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater and continued her professional training in 2005 on scholarship at the Washington School of Ballet and continued in 2007 at the Houston Ballet Academy. Since the beginning of her professional career, Shelby has danced with the Houston Ballet II, the Dresden Semperoper Ballett, the Ballet d’Europe and the Barcelona Ballet. She danced as a soloist with Ballet Mainz under the direction of Pascal Touzeau, where she performed featured roles in Swan LakeThe Sleeping BeautyEtudes and the title role in Cinderella. She also worked with choreographers like Ohad Naharin, Johan Inger, Georg Reichel and Douglas Lee. 

In 2014, Shelby joined the Hessisches Staatsballett as a soloist. There she performed leading roles in works by choreographers such as Crystal Pite, Alexander Ekman, Richard Siegel, Marco Goecke and Cayetano Soto. 

In 2016, she joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders where she now dances as a soloist. With the RBF, Shelby has danced featured roles in works by Hofesh Shechter, Akram Khan, Edouard Lock, and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui among others. In Dance Europe (October 2017) she was nominated in the category Outstanding Perfomance of a Female Dancer for her performance in Approximate Sonata 2016 by William Forsythe and Café Müller by Pina Bausch, which were discribed as “Steely strength in the Forsythe, and all vulnerability in the Bausch”.  

She also runs Biscuit Ballerina® (@biscuitballerina), a satirical Instagram character brought to life to remind dancers that being imperfect isn’t worth getting upset over. For her work with Biscuit Ballerina®, Shelby was nominated in Dance Europe (October 2018) in the category of “Best News” for the discussion of perfectionism and mental health in dance brought about by her work.


William Forsythe represents Evolution in the dance world like no other choreographer. His oeuvre spans a development process, based on classical movement carried through to his »Improvisation Technologies« – Principals of the dance language, where within the logical system of ballet, there is the freedom and possibility to explore anew.

Born in New York City, Noah Gelber studied 11 years at the School of American Ballet, becoming a principal dancer at 16 with the American Ballet Company. He toured the U.S. and Mexico as a principal guest-artist before moving to Europe. He was a soloist with the Royal Ballet of Flanders before William Forsythe invited him to join the Frankfurt Ballet. Over nearly a decade as one of William Forsythe’s featured artists, Noah performed the greater portion of the company’s repertoire, notably premiering in the original cast of “The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude”.

Aside from virtuosic dancing, Forsythe often spotlighted Noah’s vocal talents as a featured singer. As a solo pop-singer, Noah sang for television and in concerts in Germany and Austria. His original songs were released on music CDs for the European market.

Expert in the complex improvisation techniques Forsythe utilizes, Noah was chosen as an Ambassador to demonstrate examples of these for the ‘William Forsythe Improvisation Technologies’ CD-ROM. He is regularly invited to conduct workshops teaching various improvisation modalities at numerous international institutions.

Noah was active in the choreographic processes at the Frankfurt Ballet, creating considerable solo and pas de deux material contained in some Forsythe pieces. His first story ballet for the Kirov/Mariinsky Ballet, ‘The Overcoat’ after Nikolai Gogol, won 3 major awards including St. Petersburg’s ‘Golden Sofit’ for Best Ballet of the Year, and Russia’s highest theatrical prize, the ‘Golden Mask’. His other creations include ‘The Golden Age’ also for the Mariinsky Ballet, ‘Object Ours’ for dancers of the Royal Ballet, ‘Running Time’ duet, and his own solos ‘Gnos Naos’ and ‘Opus 3/1-3’. His choreographic works have been presented in Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York, London, Montreal, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt. Noah has also choreographed for the Israeli TV show ‘Born to Dance’ and ‘Contrust’.

Since 1997 while still dancing, Noah has maintained the responsibility of Choreographic Assistant for 12 different ballets from William Forsythe’s repertoire, working with over 50 different ballet companies in major theaters around the world. He is often invited to perform in international Galas, dancing solos and duets created especially for him by William Forsythe and other choreographers.


Mattia Russo and Antonio de Rosa propose a workshop based on a survey on the movement. This research is focused on the exchange, both between the roots and the abilities of each participant. The lesson is structured as a creative process, where the main goal si to explore the opportunity to produce a new movement. It is all about suggesting mental and physical limits, worries, internal contradictions or even places of memory that we lead the body to discover new solutions, extreme and unknown.

Antonio de Rosa and Mattia Russo, together with Giuseppe Dagostino, are KOR’SIA, a collective that arose from the need to use the body to communicate, and to make themselves visible as creators and performers. The four exude an inner urgency to exploit a language, that of the body, which transcends the limits of verbal communication. The risk of the unexplored is the inertia that inspires their creation, incorpora- ting elements from film, photography, literature and sculpture as references for new forms of expression.

Within a realty where our consciousness is fragmented, subdivided into strains of silence and sound, movement and quiet. It is the silence of life that dictates the path of the four members of Kor’sia, who are united by their professional dialogue.

They yearn to create and express their opinions and emotions, and through them cause the audience to fall in love, leave their cares at home, and enjoy a refreshing and new experience. The Kor’sia project is both ambitious and difficult, but its principal goal is to partake in an international professional adventure with a long future.

ANTONIO DE ROSA: Born in Naples, he began studying ballet at the National Academy of Roma. In 2005 he moved to Milan and enter the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala, directed by Frederic Olivieri. In 2008 he joined the Maggio Fiorentino in Florence and then the Arena in Verona. In 2009 he joined the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, in the following years he joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid, directed by José Carlos Martinez.

He works with choreographers such as William Forsythe, Mat Ek, Goyo Montero, José Carlos Martinez,Jiri Kylian, Ivan Perez, Itzik Galilli, Ohad Naharin, Johan Inger, Tony Fabre and choreographer altri.Come created for the Compañía Nacional de Danza, the following ballets: for Now in Liquid Days, Mirage (on a structure of Eugenio Ampudia) and Yellow Place in collaboration with Mattia Russo and Kor’sia.

MATTIA RUSSO: Born in the province of Avellino, began studying classical and contemporary dance at the National Academy in Rome, then in Milan, at the Teatro alla Scala Ballet School, where he graduated in 2008. He began his career at the Choreographic Center the Generalitat Valenciana, in Spain, and then work for Introdans, later for the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid.

Mattia Russo over the years has worked with several choreographers including: Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Nacho Duato, Ramon Oller, Mats Ek, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jiri Kylian, Robert Battle, Didy Veldman, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe, Goyo Montero , Itzik Galili, Ohad Naharin,Joan Inger. As a choreographer created the following ballets: Fratres for Introdans, Behind me, Descamino de dos, grand prize winner of the International Choreography Competition NEW YORK- BURGOS, Capra Pelada created for the Compañía Nacional de Danza, presented at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Mirage (on a structure of Eugenio Ampudia).

He received the “Young Talent” by the International Dance Festival Positano in August 2014.

Born as a need of rebellion against the schemes of the Academic Dance, Modern Dance is a free dance that leaves space to emotions. Now widespread in television, it represents a communicative expression in line with the most current and modern musical genres.

Simone Nolasco born in Rome in 1993, started dancing and performing at a very young age.

He trained at Lachance Ballet School, directed by Steve Lachance and is one of the most

acclaimed professional dancers of the TV show Amici.

Simone danced as well for important artists like: Justin Bieber at the MTV EMA 2015, Elisa in

her videoclip NO HERO and videos of her concert, Alessandra Amoroso at the WIND

MUSIC AWARDS at the Arena di Verona with choreographies by Veronica Peparini.

Being a professional dancer in the TV Show Amici, under the direction of the choreographer

Giuliano Peparini, has helped him a lot becoming an artist and by now well known in Italy.


At the end of the week, some students will be chosen and awarded scholarships to prestigious academies and companies in collaboration with Beyondance.
